From the Bride and Groom… Jeff and I grew up in southern Virginia in a small town called Danville. We knew each other growing up from rec soccer and middle school but did not start dating until junior year of high school.

We dated through college even though we at first attended rival schools ( UVA and VT ) . I moved to NYC when I transferred to The Fashion Institute of Technology in 2005 to pursue design . Jeff moved to NYC in 2007 when he graduated from school. Jeff proposed on an impromptu beach trip to Montauk with our dog Lola after 10 years of dating!

When planning the wedding Jeff and I wanted the day to reflect our roots and the upbringing that we shared in Danville. After being in NYC for 7 years it was important that our wedding reflect the casual southern charm that was such a big part of both our lives growing up in Danville. We choose Sundara because it reminded me of my grandmothers farm house and felt like home to both of us. It is a historical place, yet charming and sweet. We didn’t want anything too grand and wanted the day to feel natural.

Sundara is a home from the 1800s with a beautiful mountain backdrop and a sweet apple orchard next door. The backdrop was so spectacular that there wasn’t a need to over accessorize the location. We wanted the beauty of the landscape to speak for itself. We didn’t want to take anything away from the Mountain backdrop, old magnolia trees or the apple orchard.

I always knew that I wanted to get married outside and I loved that we could have this long lawn party in one location at Sundara.
