If there was one element of their wedding that Kayl + Cody were going to splurge on, it was going to be their florals. They keep their Chicago apartment blooming with fresh cut flowers, and they’re both canvases to two large floral tattoos, so the wild flowers and mismatched elements you’ll see in a sec played very much into the overall look and feel of their wedding. But just as important as the florals were, the team of vendors helping to make the day happen is not to be overlooked. As artists themselves the last thing they wanted to do was stifle their creativity, so they let them have total creative freedom. The result is purely beautiful. We think you’ll agree.
Something every bride wishes they could say: I thought it was going to be such a crazy day, but it ended up being one of the most laid back days of the week. I woke up late, and my sisters, my mother and I sat on the front porch sipping coffee and talking about random things, while my father went for a run. I know so many people say this, but it was the most amazing day.
Being an Army brat was an extremely large part of my life. I asked my father to wear his formal military dress blues to walk me down the aisle. It was to signify that I was leaving one stage of my life and starting another with Cody. It was very emotional for me, because I have only seen my father in dress blues a few other times in my life. Though the Army will always be very important to me, and always a large part of who I am, I let go of my father knowing I was starting a new stage in my life, leaving that behind to continue moving forward.
How gorgeous is this floral garland by Garden Delights?
As artists, we understand that sometimes when jobs are taken, creativity can be stifled. Though we had a feel for what we were going for, it was extremely important to the two of us to have our vendors retain complete creative freedom. Our meetings with our vendors were short and sweet; we chose them because we believed in their vision, so that was good enough for us. A lot of what happened the day of was a surprise to both of us! Steve from Garden Delights was a prime example. I showed him my dress, and told him I loved wild flowers and that I wanted a floral crown. He came up with everything else. One of my favorite things was the floral garland he created for the tree that we stood in front of during the ceremony. It was so beautiful, that I cried when I saw it! I think if I had tried to pinpoint every direction our vendors were going in, I wouldn’t have had moments like that.
Such great advice to take away, right? Thanks so much you two, and congratulations on your beautiful wedding!
