There are a few key details that come with a wildly romantic wedding – things like chandeliers strung from the trees, soft white linens draping the reception, beautiful flowers blanketing the tables and a Bride and Groom with that ” I really, really really love you” sparkle in their eyes. From the Bride… Quinten and I knew that we wanted a wedding celebration that was an amazing party but also felt like an intimate setting. A wedding that wasn’t over the top but still had that wow factor. We had originally decided on a different venue, but when we toured Circle Bar B, and were told that 65 of our guests could stay for the weekend, we looked at each other and knew that it was the place. Having our friends and family stay at the ranch for the weekend gave everyone a chance to meet each other and bond over horseback riding excursions, pool time or shooting pool in the game room.
We used the bright flowers, vintage and ornate decorations and different types of lighting to bring drama and a wow factor to the rustic ranch backdrop. In order to stay in our budget, we spent money on the details and decorations that were most important to us, and then found ways to include our friends and family to create the smaller details. Instead of buying everything pre-made, we had DIY weekends with our friends and family. My friends and I would go to flea markets and online shops to find special details like the chandeliers, vintage picture frames and rustic chalkboards. One of my favorite memories was spending a weekend with Quinten’s family making all of the wood signs and ceremony decorations. I had this vision of having a large drape hung from the trees over the ceremony, and my mother-in-law found a way to sew long chiffon window curtains into one long drape. Then the week before the wedding we stayed with my parents and made the succulent seating cards, programs and all of the last minute details.
We wanted to include our friends and family in both our decorations and ceremony, so for our guest book table we had our siblings, parents and grandparents’ wedding photos framed in vintage silver and gold frames. We put the frames on rustic wood crates with flowers and our guest book (which was a puzzle made out of our engagement photo). Next to our cake table we hung rustic frames with our favorite pictures of friends and family strung across. Prior to the wedding day, we asked our parents and siblings to write us a letter with their best marriage advice. During the ceremony they each brought their letter up and put it in a box for us to read on our honeymoon.
My best piece of advice: Have a day or two a week that you dedicate to talking wedding details with your fiancé. Beyond that live normal life and enjoy the months before your wedding rather than spending them with your head buried in the wedding details.
